About Us

Mission
Hashem’s House of Hope is committed to rebuilding lives by offering essential substance abuse treatment and supportive housing, empowering individuals and veterans to find lasting recovery and independence.
Vision
To see a future where Hashem’s House of Hope stands as a symbol of second chances, where individuals and veterans heal, grow, and become empowered leaders in their own lives and communities.

The Gap in the System: Why We Exist

For many men—especially our veterans—leaving prison is only the beginning of a different kind of battle. In Texas, the transition back into society is often broken. Men are frequently forced to choose between clinical treatment or a place to sleep, but rarely both.
Without a stable foundation, the cycle of substance abuse and homelessness continues, leading many back to the very environment they are trying to escape. This gap isn't just a service failure; it’s a human crisis.

The Hashem’s House Model:
A Bridge to Independence
Hashem’s House of Hope provides the missing link. We are a dedicated halfway house designed specifically for men and veterans re-entering society. Our long-term model (6 to 24 months) moves beyond "temporary relief" to create deep-rooted, lasting change through three essential pillars:

-
Stable Housing: Breaking the cycle of homelessness with a secure, long-term environment where healing becomes the priority.
-
Deep Healing: Confronting the roots of addiction and incarceration through expert therapy and a supportive brotherhood.
-
Lasting Purpose: Empowering men through vocational training and life skills to achieve total financial independence.
Our Story: Founded on Lived Experience and Hope
Hashem’s House of Hope was not founded in a boardroom, but from the realization of a critical need observed firsthand. Our organization’s vision was born from the passion and dedication of Derrick, President of our Board of Directors.
A proud Army Veteran, he identified the immense gap in comprehensive, long-term support for veterans upon their release from incarceration. He recognized that while veterans had served their country, the path to successful reintegration required more than temporary aid—it demanded integrated treatment, stable housing, and empowerment.
A Leader Behind the Walls
Drawing on his own journey and specialized training, Derrick began laying the groundwork for this organization while incarcerated. His commitment to serving others is demonstrated through his leadership in programs such as:
-
Vet X Classes: Leading peer-to-peer support and leadership training for veterans in the prison system.
-
Art Therapy: Facilitating therapeutic healing through creative expression.
-
Professional Expertise: Holding a diploma in counseling, providing him with a strong foundation in behavioral health and recovery principles.
Connecting the Right People
It was this powerful vision—a stable house coupled with therapeutic and vocational support—that connected him with individuals who shared a heart for the mission. Through collaboration, trust, and shared dedication, these founding partners built the structure for Hashem's House of Hope, ensuring that the organization would successfully address the post-incarceration challenges faced by veterans and other individuals seeking a second chance.
Today, our founding story remains our guiding principle: to provide the comprehensive care that truly fosters lasting recovery and independence, driven by those who understand the journey best.
